What was arranged on social media to be a simple sale of electronics in a gas station parking lot went awry and resulted in an assault and shots fired, Pembroke Pines police said.
The incident happened Saturday at about 8:46 p.m. in the 15800 block of Pines Boulevard, west of Interstate 75, police said.
On Thursday, police arrested Nicholas Murch, 23, of Coral Springs, as one of two suspects, said Amanda Conwell, a spokeswoman for the Pembroke Pines Police Department.
When a man and woman met Murch in the parking lot to make the transaction, Murch ended up firing multiple shots, Conwell said.
Police did not reveal what kind of electronics were being sold or who was the buyer and who was the seller.
No one was injured by gunfire, but the man did suffer a serious injury as the result of an aggravated battery and was taken to a nearby hospital, Conwell said.
Two suspects fled in a car that was found Tuesday in Lauderhill, police said.
Through the car, investigators linked Murch to the crime, Conwell said.
Police did not disclose any information about the second suspect.
The injured man positively identified Murch as the person who had assaulted him in the parking lot, Conwell said.
Murch is facing charges of armed burglary with aggravated battery and aggravated assault with a firearm, police said.
