A second arrest has been made in the failed armed robbery of four men who were celebrating a birthday during Spring Break.
Travis Jones, 31, was arrested March 26, just two days after he and Kevin Lavon Campbell, 33, confronted two pairs of brothers who were getting gas in Oakland Park, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.
Aric Wisbey, 21, and Alex Wisbey, 23, and Jacob Tanoos, 27, and Alec Tanoos, 21, were returning from a night in Miami Beach. They had stopped at the Mobil gas station at 901 West Oakland Park Blvd., about 3:35 a.m. March 24, investigators said.
Surveillance video showed Jones approaching Alec Tanoos from behind and sticking a gun in his ribs. A struggle ensued and the intended victims subdued Jones, got the weapon, and chased off both suspects.
Campbell drove away in a black Hyundai Sonata, with Jones. The four men got the license plate number and Fort Lauderdale police arrested Campbell within the hour. Jones was pulled over for driving with a suspended license, investigators said.
Both Jones and Campbell are facing several charges including armed robbery. Jones was being held in the Broward County Jail without bond. Campbell’s bond was set at $10,100, records show.
Investigators are asking anyone with additional information to contact Detective Mark Copley at 954-321-4738.
