“Bad Boys” are coming for South Florida.
The third installment of the Will Smith and Martin Lawrence action comedy titled “Bad Boys For Life” is set to begin filming in Miami and Miami Beach this week.
Filming in Miami includes downtown, PortMiami and Interstate 395, which will be closed to westbound traffic from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 14. The shooting will also affect eastbound traffic intermittently that day, according to Miami Beach police who advise drivers to use the Venetian or Julia Tuttle causeways during that time.
In Miami Beach, shooting locations include the Broadmoor Hotel, on Ocean Terrace between 73rd and 75th streets — and Collins Avenue between 41st and 87th streets, according to film permits filed with the city.
In all, the production should last about 8 days, according to Sandy Lighterman, film and entertainment commissioner at the Miami-Dade County Office of Film and Entertainment.
“We are excited because first of all, I still watch ‘Bad Boys 2’ on television, so it’s still showing off Miami in a great light and it’s going to do it again,’’ said Lighterman.
The high-profile Sony Studios production has been generating buzz since Smith and Lawrence announced last November they were reprising their roles as Miami narcotic detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett. This time around, the plot centers around Burnett, now a police inspector and Lowery facing a midlife crisis who reunite “when an Albanian mercenary, whose brother they killed, promises them an important bonus,’’ according to IMDB.com.
