Gloria and Emilio Estefan selling Star Island guest house

Gloria and Emilio Estefan, bought the sprawling home on glitzy Star Island almost 26 years ago for Emilio’s mom, but now use it for guests. Lucky guests — they’ve been staying in a waterfront property now listed for $32 million.

The 7,988-square-foot gated estate, at One Star Island Drive, has hosted A-list visitors through the years, including Jennifer Lopez, Cher and Ricky Martin.

The Estefans’ primary residence is also on the exclusive Miami Beach enclave, but it’s not for sale.

The estate’s two-story main house features five bedrooms, four full bathrooms and one half bath. It also has a living room with fireplace, dining area, piano room and a large kitchen with breakfast room. The second-floor master suite has a master bath with a cast-iron pedestal tub.

A separate three-bedroom, three-bath guest house has a center courtyard with covered loggias and seating areas. Known as “La Casita,” the guest house also has a living room with 30-foot ceilings and a spiral staircase leading to the family room.

Outside, the property, which sits on about 1.3 acres, has a private dock with electric boatlift, an expansive pool terrace, a Jacuzzi and gazebo. With 240 feet of water frontage, the property offers unobstructed views of both Biscayne Bay and downtown Miami.

“Star Island feels like a sanctuary, so it’s perfect for someone who wants a very tranquil residential community,” said Stephanie Bienstock, a real estate agent who represents RelatedISG International Realty, which holds the listing. “What’s unique is having this amount of space to either work with the home that’s already there or build a dream house. And the views are spectacular.”

This is not the first time the Estefans have tried to sell the estate. According to Zillow, the property was listed in 2015 for $40 million. It was also offered for rent at $85,000 a month.

Public records show that the Estefans bought the house — which was originally built in 1940 — in November 1993 for $1.84 million. They rebuilt the house in 1995, Bienstock said.

To make the property more appealing to a buyer, the Estefans retained Uruguayan architect Carlos Ott to redesign it.

Emilio Estefan, Jr. is a musician, record producer, director, entrepreneur and author. Gloria Estefan is a Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, actress and author. She has sold more than 100 million records worldwide. Married since 1978, the Estefans began their rise to fame as part of the band Miami Sound Machine.
