Driver was drunk and speeding in crash that killed cyclist and flipped truck, cops say

A Pembroke Pines man was driving drunk when he caused the crash in Davie that threw a cyclist more than 150 feet — killing him, police said.

The crash also overturned a pickup truck, sending its driver to a hospital.

Ismael Quiles III, 33, is charged with DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide and reckless driving in connection with the death of cyclist Paul Bramer, 48, and the injuring of pickup driver Steven Poyner, 53, both of Davie.

The crash happened about 8:20 p.m. Sept. 21, as Quiles was driving a 2015 Dodge Dart about 61 mph in a 35 mph zone in the 4200 block of Davie Road, according to a Davie police arrest report.
