This year’s Pride festival in Fort Lauderdale turned violent Sunday after two people were stabbed at the beach bash.
Fort Lauderdale police say the two are expected to survive their injuries, but it is still unclear what caused the altercation.
Two people are in custody so far, said the department’s spokeswoman Casey Liening. Neither have been identified by police.
The stabbings took place near the event’s main stage on Fort Lauderdale’s beach, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
The festival takes place annually and is a celebration of the LGBTQ communities in South Florida. Sunday’s beach party capped off a weekend of events, including a parade that took place Saturday.
