What are you in the market for this fall?
A bouquet of fragrant flowers, a crusty French baguette, a scented candle, a warm batch of apple cider donuts?
Now that we’re settling into the “ber” months, it’s time for the return of your favorite South Florida farmers markets. Whether your shopping vibe is beachfront, lakeside, hometown, big city, outdoor mall, night owl, on the farm or in the park, there’s a market that matches your perusing preferences.
The West Palm Beach GreenMarket, for example, is marking its 31st season with 45 new vendors — adding to the already jam-packed lineup of returning 100, which includes 14 legacy vendors that have been selling their wares there for more than 15 years. Organizers have also extended its weekly run through May 30.
Visitors typically make their way along downtown’s busy Clematis Street to the Great Lawn overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway every Saturday to shop during market season. (Even lifestyle maven, multimedia mogul and Snoop Dogg’s BFF Martha Stewart dropped by in 2016. She also visited Palm Beach Gardens’ GreenMarket in 2020, which she detailed in a blog post.)
This year’s theme: “From the Ground Up,” in honor of successfully “incubating and growing a thriving community of farmers, growers, makers and entrepreneurs,” according to the city.
New vendor Alexandra Baker will set up her “In the Kitchen with Alexandra” booth offering Haitian pikliz “reimagined,” as she calls it, available as a hot sauce, spicy pepper relish and her No. 1 seller: hot honey sauce.

Raised in a Haitian-American household in South Florida, Baker said pikliz (a pickled slaw-like condiment) was considered “a must” at the dinner table.
“For 11 years, I worked as an award-winning, on-air guest host at HSN, and every holiday season, I gifted my homemade pikliz to the studio team,” she said. “Everyone fell in love with the flavorful heat and asked where they could buy more. That was my lightbulb moment — premium pikliz with clean ingredients was missing from grocery stores.”
She plans to sell 12-unit boxed sets, complete with a bow, so customers can also share pikliz with their friends and family this holiday season.
Another new vendor, Cafe Marseille is bringing viennoiserie (laminated pastries) alongside naturally fermented breads — all crafted with flour, butter and chocolate sourced directly from France. Each croissant and laminated pastry goes through a three-day preparation process, owner Jean Marseille said.
“Although I love breads and pastries, I avoided them for years until I discovered the benefits of sourcing cleaner ingredients and utilizing naturally fermented breads,” he said. “For me, the joy lies not only in creating, but also in working with ingredients that are gentler on the body and less likely to cause inflammation. It’s a difference I value deeply, and l’m eager to share that with others.”
