A 15-year-old boy accused of shooting his older brother to death at their Dania Beach home last month, then leaving his body to be found near a canal about a mile away is being charged as an adult, court records show.
Demetre Fleurimond was transferred to adult court and the Broward Sheriff’s Office’s Paul Rein Detention Facility on Thursday. He is facing one count of first-degree murder with a firearm in connection with the death of his brother, Kevin Dominique, 23.
Deputies found Dominique’s body shortly after 8 a.m. Aug. 19 on the bank of a canal near the 1200 block of Old Griffin Road. Investigators determined he had been shot multiple times, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Dominique’s mother had reported him missing the day before after she learned he did not go to work and could not get in touch with him, the affidavit said. The last place she knew Dominique had been was at their home about 10 p.m. Aug. 17.

Before Dominique’s body was found, Fleurimond told a Missing Persons Unit detective that he “heard a loud bang” after his brother got home from work but then Dominique left their home, according to the affidavit. At that time, the detective considered Dominique a missing and endangered person.
A neighbor heard what sounded like three gunshots about 10 p.m. Aug. 17, according to the affidavit. The neighbor’s live surveillance cameras showed a Honda speeding away from the street. Dominique’s Honda Accord was recorded by license plate readers traveling to the area where his body would later be found.
Detectives searched Fleurimond’s bedroom and found a Glock handgun and two Glock magazines, an AR-15 rifle and four magazines and Dominique’s work shirt with what appeared to be blood and marks “consistent with projectile strike marks,” the affidavit said.
Fleurimond agreed to an interview with detectives and was questioned about the items found in his bedroom. He maintained that the information he first gave detectives about his brother leaving the home was what happened, according to the affidavit, but then later gave a different account.
Fleurimond told detectives he shot his brother 15 times with a rifle as soon as Dominique walked into their home, according to the affidavit. He said he put his brother’s body in the backseat of Dominique’s car and moved his body to the canal wearing latex gloves, the affidavit said. He left the car at a nearby library parking lot and walked home to clean.
Fleurimond’s arraignment is scheduled for Monday. Attorney information was not available Friday.
