This is “Small Bites,” a South Florida Sun Sentinel feature with tiny tidbits on the food and beverage scene — because we know that sometimes you just don’t have room for a long article. You want a little news brief instead, an amuse bouche of information, if you will. Enjoy!
WHAT: The second annual Island SPACE Mango Festival in June is mango-ing to Lauderdale Lakes this time around.
The fruit-forward foodie fete had an inaugural staging last year at Broward Mall in Plantation, which is where the event’s producer, Island SPACE Caribbean Museum, is located.
The event will include:
- Tasting Station with rare and exotic mangos
- Mango Variety Snack Counter with ice cream, juice and desserts, as well as mango-laced breads, chutneys, preserves and more
- Mango-Inspired Marketplace & Bazaar with soaps, oils, lotions, candles, accessories and art
There will also be Caribbean cultural storytelling, a “people’s choice” vote for best-tasting mango pollen, and workshops on topics such as “How to Grow & Graft Mango Trees,” “Juicing for Health,” “Cosmetic Uses & Health Benefits” and “How to Cut & Present Mangoes.”
WHEN: Noon-6 p.m. Saturday, June 7
