Broward County Public Schools will be open Friday, after closing Thursday for flooding.
Superintendent Peter Licata said a few schools are damaged but all are accessible, and contingency plans are being made. Among the schools affected, he said, are:
- C. Robert Markham Elementary in Pompano Beach flooded, and there are water pumps there.
- Pompano Beach Middle has trees down.
- Northeast High in Oakland Park has one parking lot that’s inaccessible.
There also are a few schools with power issues in Deerfield Beach, he said.
The district announced at 9:55 p.m. Wednesday that schools would be closed Thursday.
Although Broward schools will reopen Friday, they will close all next week for the district’s Thanksgiving break.
