The next several nights will remain much cooler in South Florida, with lows expected to drop into the 60s and 70s through the weekend.
“There’s going to be a little bit of variations because we do have different little waves of cooler and drier air moving in,” said Luke Culver, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
The change was the result of a cold front that pushed through the state, marking the first time in months that temperatures reached the 50s. During the daytime this week, temperatures will start to gradually rise again, with highs climbing back to the mid-80s on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
But it’ll be a spate of cool nights as well. The lows on Tuesday night into Wednesday morning again will drop to the low 60s. It’ll be in the low 70s on Wednesday night and Thursday night.
And on Friday night, it will be in the upper-60s because of a wave of cooler air, Culver said, but “it’s not going to be like the drastic cooldown” the region experienced earlier this week. The forecast on Saturday night will be in the mid-60s.

Even though this week will start to warm up during the day, will South Floridians still have to endure temperatures in the 90s at any point during the rest of the year?
“All it takes is like one warm setup to bring all that warm air that’s off to our south back up into our area,” Culver said. “But right now it looks like for the next at least seven to 10 days or so, there’s no sign of anything that warm coming through. And obviously as we get farther and farther into the fall and eventually into winter, the chances just go down and down and down. So, hopefully not.”

However, a gradual cooling on average is likely to occur over the next 30 days, Culver said.
But another sudden drop off in temperature creating a cold snap like this one in the near future is unlikely, and it’s hard to tell when a comparable cold front could occur.
