Need a drink? Try these wine & cocktail events in South Florida

You could use a drink.

It’s the heat and humidity, right? And then there’s the good-grief-what-now news headlines. We all need to hydrate … preferably with a little vital vino or savior spirits.

So here’s a list of cocktail and wine events in South Florida bars and restaurants to help you chill and get through these tough times.

Remember that prices do not include taxes and gratuities.

Toro Latin Kitchen & Tequila Library

This restaurant and lounge, inside Le Méridien Dania Beach hotel, is offering Tequila Tastings helmed by tequila master Daniel Salgado, who in June won first place in Mezcal Lauderdale‘s Mixology Competition. The experiences include:

  • Vertical Tastings — different aging techniques in three tequilas from the same family ($35)
  • Horizontal Tastings — comparing tequilas produced by three distilling families ($30 for blanco, $35 for reposado and $40 for añejo)
  • Premium Tastings — a pre-fixe selection of high-end tequilas ($85)
  • Mezcal Tastings — made with smoked green agave ($30)

Owner Richard Stetler has been hosting Weekly Wine Tastings at his one-stop-oenophile-shop since 1998. The vino events are 7 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 4 p.m. Sundays. Admission is $20 and $25. Attendees get a 10% discount on the purchase of three or more bottles.

Café Boulud

David Sauer — the new head sommelier at this French fine-dining restaurant at The Brazilian Court Hotel — is overseeing the return of the Wine Dinner series. On select dates, following a seated reception at 6:45 p.m., guests enjoy cuisine prepared by executive chef Dieter Samijn and executive pastry chef Julie Franceschini.

  • July 27 — Rosé Wine Dinner, Rosé of the Mediterranean ($165)
  • Aug. 24 — Loire Valley Wine Dinner ($165)
  • Sept. 28 — Italian Wine Dinner, a Trip to Tuscany ($185)
  • Oct. 28 — Rhône Valley Wine Dinner ($175)
  • Dec. 14 — Truffle Wine Dinner with Daniel Boulud ($650)

Bonefish Grill

The new Social Hour at all locations of Bonefish Grill offers four “Irresistible Cocktails” for $7 each to pair with shareable and small plates such as Bang Bang Shrimp, B.L.T. Nachos, Calamari, Mussels Josephine and Ahi Tuna Poke. The cocktails include:

  • Mango Bourbon Sour — Jim Beam Bourbon, mango, sugar in the raw syrup, sour mix, a lemon wheel, cracked pepper and mint
  • Coconut Crush — Bacardi Superior Rum, Bacardi Añejo Cuatro Rum, coconut with pineapple and orange juices, pineapple wedge; served on the rocks
  • Blueberry Lemon Drop — Absolut Citron, blueberry puree, fresh sour mix, with a sugared rim
  • Fresh Margarita — Lunazul Blanco Tequila, Cointreau and fresh lime simple syrup

There are also two new “Remarkable Spirits,” including Jefferson’s Ocean Aged at Sea Bourbon for $10 and Jefferson’s Ocean Old Fashioned for $15.

This dining destination — one of The Breakers Palm Beach’s off-site properties — has Wine Flight Experiences carefully curated by the resort’s master sommeliers, Juan Gomez and Virginia Philip, and covering France, Italy and California, with a few other regions thrown in for good measure.
