As Tropical Storm Karl approaches the southern coast of Mexico, another disturbance is developing in the eastern Atlantic off the coast of Africa.
The tropical wave is located several hundred miles southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands, moving westward at 10 mph. As of 2 p.m. Friday, the wave only has a 10% chance of forming in the next 48 hours and a 10% chance of forming in the next five days.

As of now, environmental conditions appear only “marginally conducive for gradual development through the weekend,” the National Hurricane Center’s latest advisory said.
Meanwhile, Karl’s center is expected to reach the coast of southern Mexico late Friday night or early Saturday. It is currently located about 85 miles northwest of Ciudad Del Carmen, Mexico, moving south at 6 mph with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph. A tropical storm warning is in effect along the coast from Coatzacoalcos to Sabancuy. Gradual weakening is expected after landfall, and Karl should dissipate by Saturday night.
