An outing at the beach turned deadly when a woman drowned from getting caught in a rip current off Jupiter. Her husband tried to save her, but was unsuccessful.
The tragedy was one of three water-related deaths that the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office was investigating over the weekend.
The woman, whose name hasn’t been released, was swept up by rough waves and a rip current Friday evening, the sheriff’s office said.
She was swimming with her friends and husband at the time, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Emergency responders tried to revive her. She was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The Sheriff’s Office hasn’t released additional information about her death.
In a separate case a day later, a man was found dead in West Palm Beach’s Intracoastal Waterway after he jumped off his boat to retrieve a fishing pole and didn’t resurface, police said.
West Palm Beach Fire Rescue took the man to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Sheriff’s Office also is investigating the death of a person whose body was found in a lake Sunday afternoon in the Lake Worth area. County fire rescue crews found the unidentified person in the Winston Trails neighborhood.
