Surveillance cameras at an Oakland Park massage parlor recorded the killing of an employee, whose body was found with an extension cord wrapped around her neck.
The homicide was described in court documents filed Thursday in the case against Jacob Alex Fought, 31.
On March 21, cameras recorded Daying Li, 45, working alone at the Bing Bing massage parlor, sweeping the floors.
Fought rode a bicycle to the business at 771 W. Oakland Park Blvd., the Broward Sheriff’s Office said. He went inside, looked around and physically attacked and strangled Li, an arrest report said.
During the attack, Fought removed her yellow dress as well as his clothing and dragged her by her ankles into another room. He then attempted to clean up the business.
But Fought left behind DNA on the handlebars of the bicycle, on Li’s ankles and on door knobs, evidence that identified him, the report said.
Li’s body was found by the owner of the massage parlor. She called a friend who spoke English, and together they called the Sheriff’s Office.
An autopsy found Li died from suffocation and blunt force trauma to her head and neck.
When deputies met with Fought’s stepfather at his Sunrise home, he told them Fought visited him on March 22, the day after Li was killed, and it appeared the younger man, who is homeless and unemployed, had shaved and changed his clothing.
Fought spent the night at his stepfather’s home, and told him “he killed someone,” and “went to a massage parlor, blacked out and when he woke up, she was dead.” After looking at surveillance photos, the stepfather confirmed Fought was the man in the images, the report said.
Before his arrest Tuesday, Fought was on felony probation for a burglary case in Palm Beach County. He faces a charge of premeditated murder.
During a court hearing Wednesday, Broward County Judge Jackie Powell ordered Fought held without bond.
Fought is being represented by the Broward Public Defender’s Office.
“We just received the case and paperwork today, and we have no further comment at this time,” Robert Wills, chief assistant public defender, said Thursday.
