In my 81 years, 21 as a U.S. Marine Corps officer, I could never have believed that our nation could be reduced to such government-sponsored terror and disrespect for the rule of law.
Masked ICE thugs terrorize citizens to stop them from daring to protest peacefully against the inhumane immigration policy of Trump, White House advisor Stephen Miller, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and others. People are pulled from their cars and thrown to the ground. A man was hauled away by four thugs who carried him by his hands and legs, like a bound animal.
Trump invaded Venezuela without congressional consent and kidnapped its president. He rants about taking over Greenland one way or the other, which he says is needed for our security.
He ignores that we have an agreement with Greenland that allows the U.S. to build just about any military installation wherever we want. If we were to invade, we would destroy the effectiveness of NATO for our former European allies and help Putin in his quest for a new Soviet Empire.
I am angry and saddened for our nation but I am hopeful. We have faced domestic enemies before and prevailed. We all need to stand up and say “No More!” destroying what was once the land of the brave and home of the free. We will survive this and truly become great again.

Hands off, Mr. President
Trump and Miller should keep their bloody hands off Greenland. Loyal Americans want peace, and they prefer NATO to Vladimir Putin.

Renee Good was a rioter
“Rise up peacefully and resist” was a recent Sun Sentinel opinion page headline. It’s too bad that no letter writer mentioned those words in their diatribes.
Could it be if they read or watched the mainstream media they would never know that what so many of the protestors are doing is actually rioting? Anyone who was pushed, shoved or shot was impeding a law-abiding operation. Renee Good was not peacefully protesting — she used her vehicle as a weapon.
If actual police were on hand, as they should have been, they could have helped to keep the rioters away from the ICE officers. They were obviously told to stand down. Sort of like they were told during the riots after George Floyd was killed.

(Editor’s Note: Mr. Goldstein is mistaken. In the first letter to the editor, Michael Varga of Wilton Manors wrote: “We rise peacefully and resist,” which inspired our headline.)
No man of peace
Trump threatens Greenland that if it does not accept his purchase of its homeland, he might take military action.
It is my understanding that the U.S. has an agreement giving our military access to Greenland.
Trump, by the way, also renamed the Department of Defense as the Department of War. Please, tell me again why he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize?

Listen to him closely
Stephen Miller, a powerful Trump ally, argued in a CNN interview with Jake Tapper that Greenland rightfully belongs to the U.S. Pressed on possible use of military force, Miller avoided a direct answer, stating that “Nobody’s going to fight the United States militarily over the future of Greenland.”
“We live in the real world, Jake, which is governed by strength, governed by force, and is governed by power,” Miller said. “These are the iron laws of the world since the beginning of time.”
Historians and critics have noted that Miller’s “iron laws” phrasing mirrors the term “iron laws of nature” as translated from Hitler’s “Mein Kampf.”
The comparison extends to invoking images of the Nazi Gestapo, known for its intimidating presence, acting above the law with no judicial review and relying on terror to maintain control.
