After some record-breaking heat in recent days, the weather in South Florida will stay hot this Memorial Day weekend — with the “feels-like” temperatures expected to rise above 100.
The highs on Saturday and Sunday will be in the 90s, with heat indices reaching the 100s by Saturday in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. The heat will only rise from there, with indices reaching 105 and higher in some areas, according to the National Weather Service.
The heat index, though not the actual temperature, is what the temperature feels like to the human body when humidity is coupled with the air temperature.
Last Memorial Day weekend, the high temperatures only hit the mid-80s. But unlike last year, rain isn’t likely to engulf the region.
According to the National Weather Service, the chances of showers and thunderstorms will be “rather low,” or the area won’t experience much, if any, cooldown due to rain. Trips to the beach aren’t likely to be disrupted.
