Top Dolphins-Commanders prop bets from Chris Perkins and David Furones

MIAMI GARDENS — It’s Year 2 for Sun Sentinel Dolphins columnist Chris Perkins and Dolphins writer David Furones picking prop bets, which they’ll do for all 17 regular-season games.

Prior to each game, Furones and Perkins will select a “Best Bet” and a “Longshot.” The “Best Bet” selection is a near 50-50 proposition while the “Longshot” is at least +300 or a 3-to-1 probability.

They don’t place dollar amounts on their bets, but you’re welcome to wager as much as you can afford.

Furones is 6-4 on his “Best Bets” while Perk is 2-8. On the “Longshot,” Furones is 3-7 while Perk is 1-9.

Perkins and Furones use the Hard Rock Bet app for odds. Be sure to check the South Florida Sun Sentinel predictions for Sunday’s outlook.

Perk’s Best Bet: Tua Tagovailoa over 1.5 yards rushing (-110)

The offensive line/pass protection has done a good job recently. Tagovailoa has only been sacked three times in the last three games. He’s also rushed three times for no yards. Prior to that Tagovailoa had rushed for four or more yards in five consecutive games. I’m guessing he’ll have/need a successful scramble or two.

Furones’ Best Bet: De’Von Achane over 77.5 rushing yards (-115)

Achane is going to put on a show for the international audience after he went for 174 yards on the ground against Buffalo. It also helps that Commanders defensive tackle Daron Payne is suspended, and I expect Miami to play with the lead and stick with the run game late.

Perk hit his “Best Bet” last week — WR Jaylen Waddle getting 10 receiving yards in the first quarter. But he’s still struggling. Similar to the Dolphins, Perk is hoping for a late-season miracle. Furones, who had RB James Cook rushing for 87.5 yards or more last week, has a firm lead in this category.

Perk’s Longshot: De’Von Achane 65+ receiving yards (+325)

There’s two schools of thought here: Washington smothers WR Jaylen Waddle, making Achane a frequent target (he’s got two games being targeted 10 times, and one game being targeted nine times), or Achane breaks a big play. Either way, this is very possible.

Furones’ Longshot: Ollie Gordon anytime TD (+575)

I think Gordon will work back into the role he had established before tweaking his ankle, another week removed from the injury. His short-yardage prowess can get him into the end zone in such a situation, and I think the odds are factoring in how little he played last week while active but a game-time decision due to the ankle.

Perk and Furones both went with Buffalo TE Dalton Kincaid in this category last week — Perk went with 80+ yards and Furones went with 6+ receptions — and both got burned when Kincaid left the game early. Both are going with RBs this week, but not the same RB.
