Woman critically hurt, 2 children injured in I-75 crash involving tractor-trailer

A collision between a truck and two cars sent three people to the hospital and caused significant southbound delays on Interstate 75 through Davie and Weston Thursday morning.

A woman, 36, and a boy and girl, both 8-years-old, all from Tamarac, had to be extricated from the gray 2014 Nissan Altima that was partly wedged under the trailer, said Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Alvaro Feola.

“One female driver was airlifted to Memorial Regional Hospital in critical condition and two kids were taken via [ambulance] as a precaution,” he said.

The cause of the collision was being investigated, but Michael Steven Stanley, 45, of Davie, said he was, “caught completely off guard,” when his white 2016 BMW was sideswiped seconds before the crash.
