Dolphins center Aaron Brewer active vs. Chargers; LA down key WR

MIAMI GARDENS — Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa will have his center in Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Aaron Brewer is active after entering Sunday questionable with his new pectoral injury. He was not among inactive players announced 90 minutes prior to the 1 p.m. kickoff Sunday.

Brewer was expected to be available after coach Mike McDaniel said Friday he was “hopeful” despite Brewer being limited in the week’s three practices. On Saturday, Miami did not sign another offensive lineman to the active roster or elevate one from the practice squad, meaning the unit will roll with its eight blockers already on the 53-man roster against the Chargers.

Brewer, since signing with the Dolphins in 2024, has not missed a single offensive snap with the team between last year’s 17 games and the first five games of 2025 entering Sunday.

After cornerback Storm Duck also entered questionable Sunday, he was ruled out due to his ankle injury. Linebacker Tyrel Dodson (concussion) and defensive back Elijah Campbell (quadriceps) were already ruled out Friday.

Other Miami inactives were running back Jaylen Wright, wide receiver Cedrick Wilson Jr., defensive tackle Zeek Biggers and quarterback Quinn Ewers, who is available as an emergency third quarterback.

Wright is a healthy scratch for the second consecutive game, as McDaniel will have two running backs available — De’Von Achane and rookie Ollie Gordon II — Sunday. Wilson is inactive despite being cleared to play recovering from a knee procedure while with the New Orleans Saints practice squad, which means second-year wideout Tahj Washington is available for the second time in his career.

For the Chargers, wide receiver Quentin Johston, who entered as a game-time decision with his hamstring injury, is out.

Johnston is Los Angeles’ leading receiver, with 377 receiving yards and four touchdowns, but quarterback Justin Herbert still has Keenan Allen and Ladd McConkey.

Another banner

For the third time in three home games, Dolphins fans organized a banner to fly over Hard Rock Stadium, calling for the firing of McDaniel and general manager Chris Grier.

“Fire Grier & McDaniel,” read the banner, followed by an ad for a law firm.

The messaging is consistent with the first one that appeared before the team’s home opener against the New England Patriots on Sept. 14. Ahead of the Sept. 29 Monday night game against the New York Jets, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was also included.
