
A tropical depression formed in the south-central Atlantic Ocean on Friday afternoon and is forecast to move west toward the Caribbean Sea as it strengthens into a hurricane, according to the National Hurricane Center.
The forecast cone has the storm taking a track close to the Dominican Republic and Haiti and approaching the south shore of Cuba, which is in the forecast cone of uncertainty. It’s too soon to forecast impacts on the U.S. coast. Beryl would be the second named story of the 2024 hurricane season.
