Hollywood Police lieutenant accused of domestic violence, department says

A veteran of the Hollywood Police Department has been placed on administrative leave as he faces allegations of domestic violence, Chief Jeff Devlin said in a statement Wednesday.

Miramar Police is investigating the allegations against Lt. Osvaldo Perez, who has been with the police department for 25 years. The chief’s statement did not provide details about the accusations against Perez.

Broward County court records show Perez, 50, is facing two felony charges of aggravated battery on a person 65 years of age or older and battery on a person 65 years of age or older. A redacted arrest warrant said he allegedly grabbed and pushed the victim into a parked car, causing the person to fall down and fracture her shoulder.

The warrant did not include additional information about the investigation.

Perez turned himself into the Broward County jail on Monday afternoon, according to a Broward Sheriff’s Office booking report. He has since been released after posting bail.
