MIAMI GARDENS — Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill, who had surgery Tuesday to repair damage from a season-ending injury that included a dislocated left knee and ACL damage, among other things, visited the facility during a team meeting Friday as they prepared for the Carolina game.
“Tyreek was in the building today,” coach Mike McDaniel said.
Players said it was a meaningful visit.
“He just came into the team meeting room and he was just there, you know what I’m saying?” safety Minkah Fitzpatrick said. “I think just even that is saying a whole lot. I think he’s, what, two days out of surgery, a major surgery, not like a little scope or something. It’s a serious surgery, so having him in the building and seeing that he wants to be present and be around the team means a whole lot to us.”
Hill, who often has a smile on his face and likes to joke around, has an electric personality and was one of the most well-liked players on the team. Aside from that, Hill, the five-time first-team All Pro and eight-time Pro Bowl selection, hasn’t just been the best player on the team, he has been an intense competitor who practices hard, plays hard and is one of the guys who has provided a spark on the sideline, in practice, or wherever he’s at the facility.
McDaniel said Hill’s visit Friday was “awesome.”
“It was a real moment where I knew the time he’d probably be in the building and thankfully I’m good on my toes and it was right during the team meeting,” McDaniel said. “He made an entrance that I hadn’t given the team a heads-up to.”
McDaniel said there was definitely an “uptick” when Hill was there. He said Hill was “eager to let his teammates know he missed them.”
Wide receiver Malik Washington said Hill’s visit was uplifting.
“It’s great to just see Tyreek and to be around Tyreek and see him smiling and stuff like that,” Washington said. “Obviously, he has so much to say. He’s always joking around and stuff like that. But to see him in that moment and to see him so happy and stuff, considering what happened despite what happened, it’s great for us.”
Hill, according to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, didn’t sustain any nerve damage and plans to be ready for the 2026 season.
