A 19-year-old man was killed and two others were injured after a shootout outside a Miramar gas station Tuesday night, police say.
The shooting took place at the Sunoco gas station on Pembroke Road next to North Perry Airport, according to police. One of the people involved walked up to two men standing outside of a Mercedes parked at the gas station and an “altercation” ensued, Miramar Police spokesperson Janice McIntosh said. Then they exchanged gunfire.
One of the men, Christian Corea, 19, fell back into the car after he was shot and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another man, who McIntosh described as an “innocent bystander,” was injured in the crossfire. Fire Rescue transported him to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and he is expected to make a full recovery.
A third person who was shot ran away before a family member drove him to the hospital, McIntosh said.
Police are now looking for a fourth person who was involved in the altercation and also fled.
McIntosh did not have the ages for all of the people involved, but said one was possibly a minor.
“The incident appears to have involved multiple individuals, and detectives are actively investigating,” Miramar Police said Tuesday. “There is no known threat to the public at this time.”
