Coral Edge, a 132-townhome community, is coming to the shuttered Margate Executive Golf Course, with sales and move-ins expected to begin next year.
Homebuilder Pulte Homes will build the townhomes on about 21 acres of land directly north of Atlantic Boulevard and west of Rock Island Road. The inactive nine-hole golf course was initially developed in 1973.
Other development has been attempted at the Margate Executive Golf Course before. In 2019, homebuilder Lennar submitted a proposal for 190 townhomes, which eventually fizzled out.
The Coral Edge homes will have three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms and one-car garages, with prices ranging from the high $500,000 to the low $600,000, according to a statement from Pulte Homes.
This community will be the fourth former golf course Pulte has redeveloped in Broward County. The other three include Hillcrest in Hollywood, Oak Tree in Oakland Park and the Enclaves at Woodmont in Tamarac.
“We have a proven track record of transforming former golf courses into vibrant new communities across South Florida, and Coral Edge will be no exception,” Brent Baker, PulteGroup’s Southeast Florida Division President, said in the statement. “We’re excited to bring a rare for-sale opportunity to this established community, offering families and first-time buyers the chance to own a modern, new home in a highly desirable and centrally located area.”
