A Broward Sheriff’s deputy who was steering an unmarked truck and another driver were injured Monday when their vehicles collided at an intersection in Coconut Creek.
The crash happened at West Atlantic Boulevard and Lyons Road at about 2:45 p.m., said Broward Sheriff’s spokeswoman Gina Carter.
“Our deputy was crossing at a slow rate of speed with his lights and sirens on while driving a truck,” Carter said. “The other driver crashed into our BSO deputy.”
Carter said she did not know what the deputy’s destination was before the collision.
Carter said both drivers’ injuries were minor and she did not release their names.
Margate-Coconut Creek Fire Rescue took the deputy to Broward Health North in Deerfield Beach.
Paramedics took the other driver to Northwest Medical Center in Margate, said Ty Vassil, division chief of operations for the fire department.
Neither driver was cited in the crash, which is being investigated by the sheriff’s office.
