Reports of a former student with a backpack trespassing on campus has J.P. Taravella High School on lockdown in Coral Springs, police said.
The reports indicated the incident began before 8 a.m. Thursday but details were scarce.
Parents of students were being advised to key an eye on social media for more information.
Traffic in the area of 10600 Riverside Drive has been impacted by the increased police activity so motorists are advised to steer clear.
