A 16-year-old is dead after rollover crash near Fort Lauderdale on Saturday evening, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
At about 8 p.m., a black Lexus was speeding on Peters Road in unincorporated Broward when the driver lost control and hit a Subaru. The Lexus then hit a utility pole and flipped over.
Passenger Jonathan Guerra, 16, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Lexus driver, 17-year-old Frailyn Rodriguez, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Broward Health Medical Center. Passenger Taleb Suarez, 15, was hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening.
The occupants of the Subaru were not injured, authorities said.
Homicide detectives are still investigating.
