Hanging outside a Deerfield Beach nightspot, the teen repeatedly asked the woman “How much” and “How much to get with you?”
It was the night of St. Patrick’s Day — Sunday — and the two were outside El Reventon Sports Bar & Club, 813 W. Sample Rd.
“The victim repeatedly told the defendant that she was not a prostitute and attempted to walk around the defendant to approach the nightclub,” a deputy wrote in a Broward Sheriff’s Office arrest report.
At that point, Henrry Gonzalez-Thomas, 18, punched the woman in her face — giving her a severe cut above her right eyebrow — the report said. He pulled her to the ground and tried to pull her dress up as well, investigators said.
But the woman fought back.
Using the hand that was clutching her cellphone, the woman smacked Gonzalez-Thomas in the face and kicked at him.
Still, he was able to get his hands around her neck and started choking the woman, “almost causing her to go unconscious,” the arrest report said. Detectives would later note finger-shaped bruising on her neck.
When witnesses came to help the woman, Gonzalez-Thomas, of Pompano Beach, ran off but was quickly chased down and held until deputies arrived.
Along with charges for the alleged attack, Gonzalez-Thomas was carrying a baggie holding a white powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine, according to investigators.
He was booked into Broward’s jail on charges of attempted sexual assault and cocaine possession.
During a court hearing Monday, Assistant Broward Public Defender Hector Romero told Judge Jackie Powell that Gonzalez-Thomas was “completely dumbfounded by these allegations,” and maintains that he is the victim of the attack.
Powell set bonds totaling $11,000 for Gonzalez-Thomas and ordered him to have no contact with the woman he’s accused of attacking when he bonds out of jail.
Gonzalez-Thomas remained jailed on Wednesday morning.
