A 17-year-old boy is being charged as an adult following a sexual assault on a teenage girl at knifepoint, Lauderhill police said.
According to the arrest report, Brandon Mathieu attacked the girl about 10 a.m. Feb. 11 while she was walking in the 1900 block of Northwest 56th Avenue on her way to Lauderhill Middle School.
She was on the access ramp to a pedestrian bridge crossing over Florida’s Turnpike when Mathieu rode up on a bicycle and grabbed her from behind, investigators said.
With his arm around her neck and a knife in his right hand, Mathieu forced her to the ground and said, “get on your knees and don’t scream or I’ll kill you,” the report stated.
He grabbed her by the throat and hair and forced her to perform a sex act on him but she continued to struggle until he apologized and ran off the ramp toward Northwest 19th Street, police said.
A passing motorist witnessed the struggle, stopped to help the crying girl, and called police, who were able to identify Mathieu as a former student at Lauderhill Middle School, the report stated.
He was arrested Tuesday and was being held without bond in the Broward County Jail, records show.
