A dispute about luggage at Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport led to a scuffle that sent two deputies to the hospital for treatment and led to the arrest of two travelers, officials said.
It happened about 8 a.m. Tuesday when deputies were called to a disturbance on a Delta Airlines flight, said sheriff’s spokeswoman Gina Carter.
“A couple was engaged in a dispute over their luggage with Delta staff,” she said. “When deputies arrived, the couple began a physical altercation with the deputies.”
Both deputies received unspecified injuries during the incident and were taken to the hospital to receive medical attention, she said.
It was not immediately known if the man and woman involved in the dispute were also injured but they are facing several charges including battery on a law enforcement officer, officials said.
Details about the dispute and the identities of the two people who were arrested were not immediately available.
