One minute he was a customer — and then he became thief.
A man who appeared to be browsing at a Hollywood jewelry store took off with items valued at about $100,000, police said.
It happened Feb. 5 at DSH Oakwood Jewelers, 2897 Stirling Rd.
Hollywood police Tuesday released security surveillance video of the crime in the hopes someone will recognize the man who is believed to be in his late 20s.
According to police, he asked to see several items that were locked in a display case.
“As the salesperson presented the items to the suspect, the suspect suddenly snatched the display which contained several gold items and ran out of the location,” Officer Christian Lata said.
The grainy surveillance shows the thief wearing a white shirt, blue pants and dark-colored hoodie during the crime.
He left the store and was seen fleeing in a gold-colored Lexus that was being driven by another man.
Detectives ask anyone with information about this incident or the man involved to call the Hollywood Police Department at 954-764-4357 or 954-967-4411.
