Gunman sought in late night pharmacy robberies in Broward

Roosevelt Fleurijeune said a “desperate” gunman is on the loose. Fleurijeune works at Walgreens, 501 E. Sheridan St., in Dania Beach. He was behind the cash register about 11 p.m. on a Sunday when a man pointed a gun at him. His hands were shaking. He wasn’t wearing gloves when he took out items out of a bag and left them behind. He shouted at Fleurijeune, 22, and told him he had two minutes to open the register and hand over the cash — or else he would kill him. He had a scar over his upper lip, witnesses told police. “My hands are sweating. My heart is racing,” he said. “Am I really about to die at Walgreens?” Fleurijeune said he even gave the gunman coins. Surveillance cameras captured the terrifying moment Feb. 8th, as a man with a medium build — wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and striped gray sweatpants — rushed in. “I tried to get him out of there as soon as possible,” he said. He also pointed his weapon to customers in the store. On his way out, the robber took a man’s cell phone. Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies said the gunman is a suspect in other recent robberies — including …read more Source:: WPLG Local News       ...

2 men rescued after boat takes in water near Miami Beach

It was windy, the sea was choppy, and their 22 foot Concept boat was taking in water. The boat wasn’t releasing the water fast enough. Joseph Diaz-Quesada said he saw the waves were “jumping on top” of the boat. “We went down within seconds … we had no time to even turn on the engine,” Diaz-Quesada, 26, said. He and his friend Jorge Chaluja, 30, were lucky that there were other boaters around, who witnessed their Monday morning ordeal. They were one mile offshore of Government Cut. Miami-Dade County’s Marine Patrol Unit officers rescued the men, after they spent about 10 minutes in the water. And a tow boat service recovered their boat and took it to Watson Island marina. Diaz and Chaluja were not injured. Authorities were urging boaters in small vessels to use caution, because of the windy conditions. In Fort Myers, two men who left Shell Point Marina Sunday evening were missing. The U.S. Coast Guard found them early Monday morning. Their 20-foot sailboat ran aground and they didn’t have safety equipment. Follow Local 10 News on Twitter @WPLGLocal10 …read more Source:: WPLG Local News       ...

Father dies in motorcycle crash in Tamarac

Family and friends of Brandon Chase Cramasta couldn’t believe the tragedy Monday. Disbelief permeated their public social media posts. The 29-year-old father of a 10-year-old girl named Brianne died Sunday. “Brandon, he is gone, he is gone. My God almighty,” Opal McFarlane said on Facebook Monday. He was riding his yellow and black Suzuki motorcycle westbound on Commercial Boulevard about 6 p.m., police said. Witnesses told police that he was speeding. Francheska Roldan, 24, was driving a silver Hyundai Sonata, when she made a U-turn at White Oak Lane. “She began driving westbound and suddenly felt the impact of her car being rear-ended,” Broward Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Keyla Concepcion said in a statement. Broward Fire Rescue airlifted him to Broward Health Medical Center — where doctors later pronounced him dead, Concepcion said. Cramasta grew up in Plantation and lived in Fort Lauderdale. According to his Facebook, he was adventurous and had a love for riding motorcycles, jet skies and air-boats. He liked listening to Jay ZS, Eminem and Method Man. And liked tattoos and piercings. He is survived by his daughter Brianna and sister Chelsea Cramasta. Follow Local 10 News on Twitter @WPLGLocal10 …read more Source:: WPLG Local News       ...
