Repeat thief steals from Weston Radio Shack 3 times in 2 days

Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives are trying to find a repeat thief who stole from a Radio Shack in Weston three times in two days. The first theft occurred Jan. 2 when a man wearing black pants and a black shirt used a magnetic key to remove three Galaxy smart phone batteries that sell for about $100 each from the display area. He returned the next day with a woman who wandered around in an aisle while the man fumbled with the magnetic key nearby. This time, he stuffed some Beats by Dr. Dre headphones in the woman’s purse and removed his outer shirt, placing it on top of her purse to disguise the bulge in her bag. The man returned alone later in the day and stole another pair of headphones. Detectives are hoping surveillance video will help them find the pair. Anyone who recognizes the man or woman is asked to call the BSO at 954-659-3531 or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Cat gets name after being rescued from pipe in Miami

Veterinarians at Knowles Animal Clinic have given a cat that was stuck in a pipe for days a name — “Fire.” “We think it’s appropriate,” Dr. Emily C. Abraham told Local 10 News. “He’s a survivor.” Fire was rescued from a pipe underneath a Walgreens at Northwest Seventh Street and 57th Avenue in Miami. Firefighters spent most of Tuesday trying to save the cat after residents heard the cat crying. “Considering where he came from and how long he was there, it’s definitely shocking how well he’s doing,” Abraham said. She said there was no evidence of fluid in the cat’s lungs or broken bones. “He’s doing fantastic,” Abraham said. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews were eventually able to flush Fire out, all the while keeping track of the cat with small cameras they fed underground. “If he hasn’t used eight-and-a-half of his nine lives, I would be shocked,” Lt. Lisa Wood said. “We ran probably 3,000 gallons of water through those pipes trying to get him out.” But before Fire can be adopted, doctors want to make sure he is nursed back to health. “We want to have him up to date on vaccines and neutered before we find him a home,” Abraham said.
