Mock Trial Participants at USF Matador Invitational 2017

The NSU Mock Trial Team in NSU’s College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS), participated in the USF Matador Invitational in preparation for the regional competitions in Orlando in February 2018. This year’s case is a criminal trial involving the charge of attempted murder. The students play attorneys and witnesses. They are responsible for learning a lengthy fact pattern, rules of evidence, case law, etc. The participating students included: David Arias, Kaitlyn Castro, Melanie Chapilliquen, Gina Chavez, Josie Cuoco, Riley Houlihan, Julie Jaquays, Tal Lubarsky, Vivien Nmatko, Valentina Rodriguez, and Anum Sameer.

Mock Trial is a yearly competition that enables all undergraduate students, regardless of major, to try out for a role as an attorney, a witness, or both. It enhances speaking skills, critical thinking, and teamwork. For more information, please contact Gary Gershman, J.D., Ph.D., faculty in the Department of History and Political Science in CAHSS and the Mock Trial faculty advisor via email at ggershma@nova.edu.
